Some news from neoqb about latest stuff in development:
There will be changes to RoF in the future which will be:
* It is planned that RoF will support not only DirectX9 for Windows XP but also DirectX 10 for Windows Vista and DirectX 11 for Windows 7 * The game map will be made available in two variations: one very detailed version for single player mode and one performance optimized version for multi player mode. * The skin templates for creation of own skins will be made available in the near future. * neoqb will provide a SDK (Software Development Kit) for planes. A plug-in for 3DMax is being planned. * In the future the player will be able to select between two game modes: original mode and moddded mode. In the original mode only the default files of the RoF installation will be used. All changes to the game and all add on skins will be ignored. In the modded mode the usage of all changed files and add on skins will be possible. Also neoqb will take over add ons and modifications into original mode on proposal and after a quality control has taken place. neoqb and its partners will not held responsible for any modifictions not officially approved. * In the more distant future a complete revamp of the career mode and the introduction of a dogfight mode for multi player mode is planned. The revamp of the career mode will also affect all plane types and also the early ones. * Regarding the always online requirement: neoqb is currently checking if there may be adjustments possible which will be a more difficult task to do due to the communication processes in the game (authorisation process, statistics, game update strategy). On the question of the sim being playable in case the neoqb servers are switched off forever there is no clear answer yet. * A lot of enhancements to the game are planned. The first step will be a flight recorder which will be introduced with one of the next update patches. It may be possible to get a road map of the future development plans from neoqb, stay tuned. * The statistics system will be revamped. * The shop payment system will be enhanced. No details yet.

Patch at end of month will include some "fixes" but no dogfight mode.
On a lighter note your very own SYN_Repent is the 609th best Rise of Flight player in the world!
(I on the other hand am somewhat further down the list (867th))

new ROF patch out now, 308MB, i gotta say, i have been playing RoF a lot lately, and im enjoying it more and more, it is a gorgeous game, and on my system i am more than happy with its performance, this is gonna be a great game!!!
Hello, I'd like the quickly run down some of the key features of update 1.008. It will bring two new planes in the store (Fokker Dr.I and Sopwith Camel) and will add new summer textures to the game. It will also fix the AI of pilots who sometimes “got out of hand” with their marksmanship skills and it should increase game performance on some systems as well.
Strenuous testing allowed us to spot some bugs that we had previously missed and we were able to squash them. Another new feature is the 'Fly now' option that has been added to the main game menu. With this, you can play a rather simple “sampler” mission that I hope will be helpful to those of you who find 'Rise of Flight' a bit too difficult. We have placed several typical targets such as an echelon, a vehicle column, Russian roulette, a balloon, etc. along a single flight route. We believe it will be useful for training purposes, and while it's not quite as advanced as the quick mission generator that you are waiting for, it's a good first step in that direction and brings us that much closer to the real thing.
We will develop this mission with each update, adding new elements and content, until we will have finished the real 'quick mission generator', which will allow for much easier, and more dynamic, mission creation.
Realism lovers and sticklers will be glad to find a blip switch added to some airplanes along with all the accurate engine behaviors thereof. It uses the Shift+E keys by default but can also be remapped at your convenience. We have also finished the full version of the 'Rise of Flight Mission Editor manual'. It's well over a hundred pages long and we're hoping it helps out the RoF mission designing community.
Some thoughts: Reading the forums, I've been struck by the amount of dissatisfaction due to the lack of information from us regarding the development process. This surprised me, as I always thought we should only announce something if we are sure of it. The development of Rise of Flight, and projects like, are not easy tasks. And there are many moments and situations that are hard to foresee. It only makes sense to let you know what's coming when we are sure we can deliver.
But as I read further, I found that many people are simply interested in HOW it is all done. That is something I can definitely fill you in on and I promise to update you more as we move forward on 1.009. Because it's going to be one interesting update.
We know some users are currently experiencing performance issues. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reproduce similar problems on our systems. It might be because of specific hardware configurations. We are looking into all possible solutions.
Lastly, as is our tradition, congratulations and present are in order for our 6000 (Kneedowndean) and 7000 (Smoke218) customers to our store. Thank you all for your interest for ROF project! As for us, back to work we go.

now that more of us have got RoF (me, jed, mugue, per, and blissy), its gonna be great fun.
this game is HARD, theres no doubt about that, and with the current situation of no "dogfight" server mode, theres a lot of time between fights online, so getting practice in is a long process, i cam up with an idea last night where we could practice as a group.
although some of the time we wont be fighting in 1v1 situations when the DF servers come, i have found a lot of the time i am faced with such a situation, dragged away from the furball by a fast spad or se5, then quickly 1v1 with him, and just because im in a german aircraft and should turn better i always win........do i f*ck!!!!
the aircraft dont ever have massive advantages over each other, so learning how to fly these buckets is essential, getting experience is essential, so i propose this.....
one of us sets up a simple mission, whereby if there is 4, 5 or 6 of us playing, we all start from the same airfield, various aircraft to choose from, and go up 2 at a time, climb to about 1000m above the base, then go head on with each other, NO SHOOTING in the first merge then after they pass the fights on, the guys on the ground can spec the flying guys in order to "learn" more, and maybe even give pointers as to where the others went wrong, once there is a victor another pair goes up and the pair that just flew spectate, rinse and repeat.
this i think will certainly teach us a lot about the way this game is played, it will improve gunnery and low level dogfighting, but most essentially it will give the experience needed to go and fly "real" MP succesfully.

Great idea Repent. Would love to do it. Also found that for some reason I had the twistrudder function registered for pitch in gui. Every time I touched the stick I had an intense dive on elevators. Took care of that and now I´m fine! ;D Almost drove me crazy though...
