Hi Kammo,
That looks kind of expensive if its just the box excluding monitor.
If i were you i would be looking for:
i2500k or i2600k P67 m-board at least 4gb of fast ram large storage (maybe a SSD flash drive for your windows if budget allows) on board sound is good enough (for me) single high end card (running Xfire or SLI usually creates more problems than it solves), remember that il2 ran MUCH better on NVidia then it did on ATI/AMD. Not sure that this is also the case for CoD.
Above would cost you about 900-1200€, if you are willing to build it yourself and is quite a bit faster,
cheers, Koll

It seems that COD should run as well on Nvidia and ATI, Il-2 was OpenGL which ATI stuff didn't run too well. COD will be DirectX only, so I guess there shouldn't be too much difference.

From Luthier..
"Hi everyone,
The patch has gone up to steam. It should autoupdate your game version in a few hours once it propagates down to the world. As long as autoupdate is enabled in your steam (Library – Cliffs of Dover – RMB – Properties – Updates – Always keep this game up to date) you do not to take any further actions.
Patch notes can be found below.
And here’s where we are in terms of plans. We obviously remain hard at work on the series. We will continue to improve the game up until the eventual release of its sequel.
Our main priorities now are:
1. Physics and FM. This means plane behavior in the air, brand new landing gear model on the ground, collision modeling including tree collision (if performance allows), and improved vehicle physics. 2. AI. Currently working on everyone’s favorite controls flutter and AI wingman behavior. Also working on improving radio comms, getting your crew to be more verbose on the intercom, and lots of other changes. Coupled with #1, this should give us quite a dramatic change in how air combat looks and feels. 3. Performance. We are in final stages of testing a thorough overhaul of the game’s graphic engine. It won’t look any different but it will be much more streamlined. It’s too early to say what the FPS increase will be in the final version, but it shouldn’t be less than 50%. 4. Sound. The sound in the v15950 is considered a beta. We will continue to improve existing sound, and to add new ones to the aircraft and to the world around them. 5. SDK. As promised earlier, still planning to release a map-making SDK in the near future. More details will be released when we are ready for them.
I won’t put an ETA on any specific feature at this point. We will go through the same general process as before: internal testing first, then open external testing, and then finally the release. Generally, releases should follow at about the same pace as they have with the current patch.
Thanks everyone, and we hope you enjoy the game!"
....or to translate
"Hi everyone, We cant fix this pile of crap so we have abandoned it since we got all of your money to make a proper game. We are putting the office apprentice on it to fuck around and practice with, maybe adding some of his whacky ideas in there to test. Dont expect any updates anytime soon or with any regualrity as the new game will be taking up all of our time. Thanks everyone for funding our new games development, now feck off etc..."

I know its harsh...IM sorry, but I get so frustrated with this developer. I loved IL2 so much and this was meant to be the better, not worse. I so so so so wish it would get good. Since this last update tho it looks as tho we will have to wait for its sequel to be any good Theres a lot of "Triggers brush" about this game unfortunately. (Trigger, for those who dont know "Only fools and horses", is a roadsweeper who wins a prize for having the same brush for 15 years. It later transpires that it has had 5 new shafts and 10 new heads) When they charge $50 for the new IL2 that they are making itll be $100 to get there....I will buy it, tho....sad huh?

I have a feeling for some the boredom already started.
Not for me tho. I think I am blessed I am not spoiled with a great Il2 history. So it's easy for me to uninstall Clod.
I wouldn't bet on it to get great. I wish I would but I think they can't. They wasted their good name. And when their money runs out every smart guys will leave that studio to find a new fresh project with some potential to make a profit. I don't believe morale at that studio can be high atm.
Tho I agree with you Per. Where do we go when Rof starts to bore us. I am hoping a new company steps up with something worth while. Lets keep our eyes open.

i had a little blast on Clod today, still the same, the game has no guts, and it has its problems which are a long long way from being solved, i kinda enjoyed myself though, flying on the repka beta operation sealion server, mainly because the reds were outnumbered 3 to 1 by the usual crowd of blue wankers, so shooting them down was a nice little "ah fuck you" moment.
was surprised to see a lot of the ATAG brown tongue brigade on that server too, i think its a timezone thing, but even ATAG members were there, would love to stick it to that cock bliss by making the repka server more popular than his...........anyway thats off topic i suppose.
yer, im still dissapointed by Clod, 2 beta patches and an official patch later, and we got better sound.......thats it basicly, nothing else to smile about.
the game does look great for me, performance wise its so-so, but there is no depth there, no real game, its spitfires fighting 109's endlessly, they are talking about doing other theatres next, would it not be far easier to stick some US aircraft into the game, some heavy bombers, some later 109's, 190's and later spits, then we can have 1942 onwards and do rhubarbs and 8th AF daytime bombing.
i personally think RoF has years of life in it yet, christ, i played il2 for going on 8-9 years, and RoF is almost as good, just needs a load more aircraft, and perhaps a theatre or two to expand it.

Well, perhaps it's just me that got old... And I realise that we are now a pure ww1 Squadron. I miss ww2 stuff, so perhaps it's time for me to move on.

ah dont say that per, if enough of us have a tickle of clod now and then it could be fun, i miss ww2 immensely, but alas, battle of britain is not something i miss from that era as much as the other stuff.
