Update on the banana forum today from Luthier. I say update, but its really just a reaffirmation by him that the game was broken...was not fixable...and they have thrown out all the bad code and are recoding the new stuff as we speak....not likely to be 2011 though. Still...its nice to see that he finally has put in black and white that the game didnt work...couldnt work...couldnt be fixed....and is in the bin. Looking forward to some of the new game then...

Update 18/11/2011
Gentlemen,
A short update today.
Continuing to work on all fronts. The graphics reload has finally reached a sufficiently stable alpha state. Public beta is within reach. We’ll be benchmarking it next week and releasing the results. At this point we ourselves do not know how much better it’s gotten, and we’re as excited to learn as you are.
The sound has also gotten much fuller and bigger and more varied. We have ambient sounds, much more “vocal” airframe, and other cool things. I really enjoy listening to the game as I fly and look around.
Our team also continues to grow. We’ve just had two more people start on Wednesday. We almost ran out of space in the office that seemed half-empty when we were developing Cliffs of Dover.
I’ll conclude our tonight’s broadcast with a few photos. One shows the ongoing work on our FM; the guys are poring over Spitfire performance data (thanks Sean). The next one shows our graphics rewriting hero who is too shy to face the camera. He spent countless hours going over old code and making it better, and the game wouldn’t be what it is without his tireless efforts.

Well...the way I see it....if they redesign the Graphics engine, the Sound engine, the GUI and the Campaigns then its pretty much a whole new game.

My point exactly, although I think that gamedesigners in the future shouldn't have people pay for placeholders, but rather for working products that can be improved. I really hope they get the core done properly now with the BoB chapter and that they can make it an enjoyable sim with some depth when they move on to the Moscow front.
