Well worth the watch, thanks Bliss.
As I understand, you have some experience with tracer ammo.. What do you think of the tracer graphics we're seeing in CoD lately? (Yes, loaded question, no pun intended. I don't like the way they look in the vids I've seen, seems like IRL they should look like points, not lines. But I've never seen them IRL).

well they actually look like streaks if you don't try to focus on one particular bullet being fired with your eyes. It's tough to explain, but if you are an observer, watching from a distance it's like a small streak of light. If you actually try and focus on one particular bullet that's moving, then it looks like a dot. Your mind plays tricks on you because of how fast the depth changes and your eyes ability to try to focus in the depth. If that makes sense. From a camera/video, the streaks are really played out because of the shutter speed/frequency of the camera. That's how I observe them anyhow. So how they are modelled, IMO, is correct as you would be focusing on the whole picture (with your eyes) and not just a single round. Edit: Here's a picture from a night training exercise You can see just how overdone the camera shutter makes them look. But if all 6 fifties in a mustang opened up, and were only loaded with tracer rounds. It would look like a laser light show. We have the nice skips of ball ammo, to tracer rounds, (and usually only 2 guns have any tracer rounds in them at all) so we still get some of the effect, but not exactly like the picture.

From 1c: English translation from the Russian forum: OK, here we go: Il-2 Sturmovik series fans, take off for Scramble! Angels 20 five miles south-east of London! Observer Corps says, it's Il-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover. Surely every fan of flight simulators knows, what series of team 1C: Maddox Games is. Oryginal Il, which stands on the market from 10 years is still in good condition and is going to have successor. It'll be meantioned CoD. However, it won't be arcade shooter like Birds/Wings of Prey, but real, realistic simulator, made with rule ,,each detail is the most important detail", but enjoyable by starting pilots, too thanks to the best training system in history of flight sim genre. In this case, player flies with instructor, which tells him what to do but(attention!) such missions are available per Internet, too, so everybody can learn flying from real people. Team counts just 22 persons, most of them are specialists in their interests, in example there is Su-26 gear constructor or person, who made so real engine model, that each part, each piston works separately. And damage model creators made it simulation, not cosmetics only. You can, in example, make ammo explode or even flat a tire! Interface will be better, more comfortable, in one word modern. Game's creators almost reached perfection: superenjoyability, even for newbied, perfect, almost photorealistic graphics, realistic (but customizeable by changing realism options) flight model and finally mission editor, which makes you able to create your own missions and even campaigns. Maddox Games tells that if they didn't have contact with series' veterans, the final product wouldn't be so (can't find a word, but synonim of good, finished). team chief, Oleg Maddox and his deputy, Ilya Shevchenko (known on 1C forum under nick luthier) answer the questions and speak with fans when they [Oleg and Ilya, in polish it's better understandable] have any free time. Impression of being the part of battle has got to be as realistic as it can thanks to the best artifact intelligence in history, which has to simulate even psychical exhaustion, fear or some special abilities, like accuracy, maneuverability or awareness. In the topic of campaigns, we know just that we will have two of them (a british and a german one) and they will content couple of special missions (amazing, but as historic as they can be). But Il-2 Sturmovik series teaches, that after few months from release we'll have alot of fan-made missions, campaigns, maps and even new airplanes and team Maddox Games will start creating free and paid add-ons and DLCs. We'll have practically all impotrant planes of battle of Britain , amongst others Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire (in different variants) at british side and Messerschmitts with bombers on the other side of the Channel. And we know, that a special bonus aerobatic plane, Sukhoi Su-26 will be included. The most important and living part (except very extended and simple to use mission editor) will be the multiplayer mode. The mode will let up to 128 players to fight online and will use (attention, ladies and gentlamen)… RADAR! Radio detection and raging system is base of singleplayer missions, too, because air controllers directed by artifical intelligence will tell us heading - sometimes wrong - to enemy by the radio, and that will incrase the feeling of being part of the battle between july and october A.D. 1940. These are screenshots I sent to choose some from:

Thx for the link Bliss. Seems to beta version footage like you said. Lot's of new details. The taxi ways and the general look of the airfield seems to be quite IL2ish, but beta is beta. The biggest difference between the old and new version videos is dynamic lightning wich is lightyears ahead in the late version videos. Here is a good new video www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBFL6C2mMUw&feature=player_embedded#at=26 where is lots of shooting. I really like these tracers (check 0:20-0:24 and 1:40-1:55). You can see that the tracers are quite different than in the link that Blissy posted. Also the cannon recoil is damn good; bam bam whata bam bam , di bam bam bilam bam bam.

Well there's only been one video I've ever seen that shows just what the ground looks like in Cliffs of Dover (on high settings) In most of these videos, everyone has the ground details on very low settings to keep acceptable frame rates. This video is from April 2010 (very old) but, as you can see, the grass and trees even move with the direction of the wind. If you look closely you can even see the distant trees (their leaves and branches) moving as well. Just imagine what this looks like now ;D This is a must see if you haven't seen it yet. Just check out how nice that moving column looks www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp_c8s4FcFo&feature=related

Yup very good reasoning I believe Bliss. And agree the column clip is amazing.
Check this:
Used my headphones and sounds were very rich and athmosphreric. Throttle positions was modeled very nicely on the sound. Diving and other movement of the plane didn't seem to have such a strong impact to engine sounds (rpm's going to the roof) that I would think it would. And no lawnmover sounds for sure. People tend to think external sounds are what you should get while in cockpit and therefor might be disapointed. Internal sounds are pretty much spot on fo' sho'.
So what's up in the desert. You like it? Must be a differen't kind of experience, huh?

Where are the Italian planes going to fit into this era? Any mission ideas we can fit the plane set into?
