Yeah, me too. The next thing to ponder is the server: Are we gonna have one?
I would like to think so. If we can get a great one running as soon as its out hopefully we can achieve in SOW what we (by 'we' I mean all of you who do stuff with it!) have done with Rise of Flight.
By that I mean full real, historic objective based missions and minimal rules and bullshit. Might have to start learning mission making again....

I agree with you guys –it’s the ‘realistic’ atmosphere of il2 world that makes us addicted to the game. In a dogfight how often do you notice all the eye candy stuff? For me it’s all about the realistic flight model (physics) and damage model. And I do hope we have a server. Maybe mission builder will be more player friendly than in il2… Kammo – our skills and qualities are best reveled when we all fly as a team. So where the hell are you mate???!

AS in another post in private area we WILL be running a server. With that in mind we are going to need mission builders to get busy as SOON as it gets released!. Guys like Flashy, Vander, Bofors, Wolfie, Per....all the usual suspects who get to know the software quickly shd get on vetn and get talking about their respective project missions. Bliss is away and I will do my best to get you all together and busy....speak soon

I tried playing with the IL2 editor for a little bit. It doesn't seem too wildly complicated. I wanted to see how many objects I could throw down on the map until the game would crash, but I couldn't find an updated object list so I inevitably quit.
It's mean posting videos like that Bliss. It's like watching someone eat a hamburger in front of you when you're starving.

Hmm, what do you mean by updated object list? As far as the # of objects you can throw at it, they're basically limit less. Many of our maps had 10-15 targets/objectives (for both sides) and at about 100-150 objects per targets (20-30 objectives total) you can rack up 5000 objects pretty easy. One of the biggest FPS killers was always trying to make an airfield too fancy (they are fairly nice to begin with). As far as killing the games with objects, I don't think it can be done - I had over 40,000 objects in a mission I made to try and do the same thing, and although my PC hated me for it, the game still ran (very low FPS) And I think the only thing that's mean is while you're playing CoD, I will be out in the desert for another 3 months -- I've been waiting on this game for years lol.

Darn, no personal internet possibility out there? You need to get a satellite phone to play off of! Although it might take you 2 months to download it off of steam that way.
I just meant a list that said what object was what. The objects don't have names, just numbers as far as I could find. I wanted to try and make a pacific map, but with a full battle going on on the beach. Was gonna get silly with it and see if I could put divisions of infantry and tanks on the map.
I found landing craft to be annoying because they can't go all the way up to the beach like you would hope. There seemed to be some invisible barrier when the water got too shallow. It may have just been the map I picked though

@ Squirrel - What I got is about as good as it gets which is horrible, but at least I have enough bandwidth to access some sites. Would be funny though buying a SAT phone and asking about tethering plans to play video games lol. And I think there's a 20meg pdf floating around that shows all the objects. I think there's also a modded object list that adds about 20,000 more objects to the editor. I can't remember exactly where to download it from though. I remember the landing craft thing, but I thought there land/sea craft in the editor that could go through water and then travel on land where ever you sent them. And there's also some ships that have drawbridges etc., that will land and drop off tanks etc., finding them in the huge objects list is the hard part. And the map thing is correct, there were some maps that had bugs that way, but I thought they have been long fixed. Try doing a Normandy map and see what happens. Have you seen some of the screenies for the new FMB? Holy options batman. You can even chose how weathered each available plane is. Pretty cool. SYN_Kammo - I'm deployed for USSOCOM @ JBB CJSOTF-AP. I'll be home in June
