Quote: Please note that the game will also use the Steam platform for services such as matchmaking, anti-cheat etc… So you will need a Steam account to play the game il-2-sturmovik.ubi.com/cliffs-of-dovers/blog/uk/?p=1162I don't want this shit . I sincerely ponder skipping it now, it just gets worse by the day. I'll go down the BS and A10 road instead.

I had Steam to play HL2 and then Red Orchestra, was fortunate enough to never have any problem with it, but honestly I would prefer that COD was not using steam, I'm not very fond of it... Won't detract me from buying it or enjoying it though.

No I don't understand why Steam is so much hated. I think they are quite a good menace to all the publishers out there..

I´ve had no probs with Steam either. They seem to run a fairly clean ship.

I will most likely not go down that road . I don't like the EULA that comes with steam and I don't want a plethora of software not belonging to the program I'm trying to use. To much hassle and to much that can go wrong.

We'll see, I'll hold back for a while and watch eagerly for all problems that WILL surface and when ironed out might go ther anyways Why do i say WILL be problem, you might wonder?! Well think about this. You have SecuRom for Lock On and DCS programs installed and CoD will have SolidShield as DRM but Steam is inherently a DRM solution in itself so imagine what will happen when this shit tries to co-exist?! I do NOT want to be a initial beta tester of that mess

While this won't stop me from getting CoD, I don't like it. Though to date I haven't had too many issues running steam.
I hate when programs have to call the mother ship every time you launch it. I also hate having to download game content, when I've got a perfectly good DVD drive here that is SOOOO much faster. I've begin to wonder if there will be the option of running this game over a LAN, or are we to be stuck with the master server crap of RoF. And then there is the issue of the future...If and when steam decides to stop supporting your game for any reason, you're fucked. Nothing pisses me off more then when I try to load some old game I paid for, and it won't run....
Just give me the program on a disk as a stand alone item please!, he shouts into the hurricane wind of "progress". I don't like the look of the future where steam is handling all PC gaming. I thought we used to breakup monopolies? Not anymore, we praise them for their "efficiencies".

Exactly what I was thinking Mugue, what happens if the steam server is down?

If the server is down it won't start. To be able to use steams so called offline mode you must have thought about that before and activated it online for it to work offline

To me this is great news! I love steam. I've never had one issue and everything works in offline mode fine.
Haha if you do fancy DCS sometime give me a shout. I'm pretty keyed up on the BS and WH
