What-o chaps, finally getting back into the swing of flying games again after a few months off and I have been playing about with the Rise of Flight.
Its certainly come on a bit! Anyhoo, I discovered something today which you guys may not know. (When I say discovered, i mean read ona forum somewhere!)
If like me, you dont bother with any of the effects such as bloom or HDR there is a way to ensure they dont interfere at all and help incease frame rate and reduce FPS.
I posted a question of the Rise of Flight forums and via a link to a new thread I found out that if you dont use effects at all then you should disable them in the rise of flight/data/startup.cfg files
Open it up and look for the following entries
[KEY = graphics]
filter = 3
forest_distance = 1
forest_quality = 1
full_height = 1080
full_width = 1920
fullscreen = 1
gamma_b = 1.00000
gamma_g = 1.00000
gamma_r = 1.00000
grass_quality = 2
hdr_bright = 0.47000
hdr_contrast = 2.20000
hdr_quality = 0
land_textures = 1
landscape_mesh_quality = 0.50000
multisampling = 2
post_blood_enable = 0
post_bloom_enable = 0
post_blum_enable = 0
post_cinema_enable = 0
post_dof_enable = 0
post_drops_enable = 0
post_effects = 0
post_effects_enable = 0
post_hdr = 0
post_saturation_enable = 0
reflection = 1
saturation = 0.75000
shadows_quality = 1
texmipdown = 0
vsync = 1
win_height = 1024
win_width = 1280
If ANY of the post_... entries have a 1 change it to a 0. I checked mine and even though I had all effects turned off in the start up screen, post_effects_enable was set to =1. With this set to 1 I had stutters and the memory usage in startup was 36%.
By changing it to 0 i went to 20% memory usage and the stutters dramatically reduced.
Heres my thread in ROF forums about such things.

Well, I hope to br flying more and more soon so will see you chaps online...except for this weekend as im moving my business into a new office!
