Yesterday was election day in Sweden and what a dark day it was. It´s now official that 5,7% of Sweden's population has totally lost their minds and voted for the Nazis who have taken place in Swedish parliament. It´s a total disgrace and extremely saddening. The cold hand of fear and lack of humanity and solidarity has gripped my country. Shame on us all!

Very sad to hear that Per! But I'm very glad that you feel so strongly about it. It means there is still lot of hope when there is still people like you! Unfortunately the situation in Finland seems to be even worse in the coming elections. Polls shows far right can get over 10% of the votes...

Hmm, that dosen't sound good. Do they call themselves Nazis? Or do they go by a different name? Like here they call themselves the religous right, the Tea Party, or the neo cons... This IS WHY reasonable people everywhere must get off thier lazy asses and vote!! Don't leave it up to the other guy or this is what you can get. Democratic systems require alot of reasonable people to outweight the 10% of vocial idiots present in any society.

Good to hear voices of reason! No Mugue, they call themselves Sweden democrats (Jeeeez...) but their ranks consists of many former organized nazis or people with extremist values. I totally agree with the importance of exercising your democratic right to vote. In this election 20% stayed at home... For crying out loud, people get murdered or tortured in less fortunate countries for the right to vote! And people stay at home in this land of mine, because: "they cant identify with any of the existing political parties". That´s like a bad joke, a luxury you really can´t afford when things are turning brown again... To bad about the situation in Finland Kammo, but it´s the same wind blowing all through europe right now. The fight has started!

well i'm actually glad to see things aren't going much better over there Per ... here in Belgium the political body is just one big joke ... we haven't had a decent working government for ... let's see ... the past 8 years or so ...
politicians aren't interested in the well-being of their country ... they care much more about their wages and their public image ... politicians are increasingly appearing in tv game shows here in Belgium boosting their image ... we went voting almost 3 months ago and they (politicians) still haven't been able to form a government ... sad really ...
it will only go that much further before people will get fed up with it ... right now people in Belgium are at the point where they don't understand how political Belgium can be so fucked up ... but as long as we have everything we need to be happy we don't challenge it ... i hate to say it but we need another crisis ... perhaps that will get people moving and get rid of those corrupt and egocentric people in Brussels

So sad to hear Karms. Politics are of course a question of mutual trust between electors and the elected, not to be abused. Because, honestly, what remains of the civilized society if we loose trust in ourselves? Mutual respect is of great concern in these days. Hope they get their shit together Karma.

Uniquely the turnout in Northern Ireland is extremely high. Considering that it is such a small country (1.5 million only) it is unsurprising that people want their voice to be heard. Seats pass on such small margins here (can be as low as 4 votes!) that NOT voting really means that our countrys future CAN and WILL be the responsibility of either London or Dublin. For us its about British or Irish really.
Unfortunatley in periods of normalisation you get "watered down" politicians who appear similar to their candidates. Thus we dont know who to vote for. One seems as good as another.
Fast forward to a period of financial uncertaintly and anyone with a strong message and strong character who claims to have the answer to all the nationalistic porblems is going to stand out.
Thankfully Europe sees itself more as a single entity now that 70 years ago and it maintains a social and moral concience. I have no doubt that like in Northern England and the "British National Party" citizens will soon turn on the bigots when they see there is no substance behind the rhetoric...
Now...this post has required a high degree of thought and literacy and as such I feel slightly lightheaded and out of my confort zone...therefore i will return to my usual posting style....you`re all cunts....love etc, Jed
