...I joined the vintage mission but for most of the time I was on the server I didn't participate much.... Don't worry guys I still love you , reason for my behaviour is that MY WIFE IS AMAZING !!! Saturday she had some things to do in town, coincidentally the shop she went to is just next to a computer shop also specialized in flight simming gear, so she thought she might find a nice present for me for Christmas. Being as she is, she's then just unable to wait until then to give it to me, sho she came back with a nice surprise: A new shiny Track-IR 5 !! So I spent most of last night trying to adjust the curves for the thing, at first I just couldn't manage to look straight up, and the view kept getting locked and jumping back while I was looking behind me with a SPAD hot on my tail who finally shot me down. I started to understand how to modify the curves but nothing changed in-game, I was nearly getting mad and then realized that the game wasn't using the profile I was modifying... I managed to set up the thing nicely for a last mission flying Entente in a SPAD and calming my nerves on three german sausages, but still CP won the round as we were just missing a few hundreds points to win. Now I can look around and follow planes much better, but still have to get used to to this thing in combat, we'll see how it goes next time !

Hi Ricky, Yeah it's a must have. It cost me some time as well to get used to it. I recenlty found out, it's even better when combined with quick snapviews with your hatswitch. Welcome to the stiff necks club

Last Sunday I had to leave earlier than expected because my PC crashed after I encountered some graphical glithes in the mission map screen. I restarted the PC and launched ROF but after a few seconds in the main screen, same thing, graphical glitches and crash. I re-started once more and tried COD:WAW and the same thing happened. I had that problem one or two times with ROF but never with COD, so I started suspecting something might be fishy with my puter. Tonight I started it and after a few minutes, bam, same problem. Everything is looking fine in windows safe mode but as soon as I start in normal mode the graphics are all corrupted and I can't even log on anymore, so I suspect my graphic card is out of order... Don't know when I'll have time/energy (quite few left at the moment TBH) and money to solve the problem, so until then I won't be able to play anymore, but I'll keep a close eyes here and on the official forum. Hope to be able to fly with you again soon ! Ricky

Try pouring cod liver oil into the various vents of your computer, Im pretty sure that will help! Though the stink of fish might be off putting...

That's unfortunate to hear Ricky, could well be degradation of the card as it got worse, might worth a shot uninstalling the graphic drivers in safe mode though and reinstalling in normal, safe mode will be running the standard VGA drivers which seem to work.
Personally I would whip it out (OOer) give it a good dust down check power cables and fans, reseat and give it another whirl.

bummer!
It does sound like de video card is dying... cleaning it might give you a few weeks, but the problems will most likely come back.
If you want advice on a new card, let me know and post your pc specs as well.
cheers, Kollwitz

Thanks all for your messages ! I tried dusting/ re-installing but nothing went better. Now for a replacement card...problem is that I didn't intend to spend money on that bloody PC until I had a clear idea of the real specs to run SOW. Now i could aim for a cheap ~100 bucks card (ATI 5750 for ex) and still hope I can run SOW with it, or aim for a higher-end card that I could keep if I had to change the rest of my config...thing is that I had quite a few unexpected expenses of late and I'm a bit choking on the idea of putting 300 or more bucks for a high-end card My actual specs are: Windows XP pro 32bits ASUS P5K Mobo Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700@2,66Ghz 2GO RAM Dead ASUS 8800 GTS 512 GPU I was also considering upgrading to Vista 64 to be able to use more RAM, but I dunno how much my Mobo can take...

I would hold out on the vista64 or win7-64 till you get a whole new system... Both OS's strain the system more than a leaned XP and you'll def. need more RAM then...
Same thing with the GPU... Either spend a buckload now, and get a high-end card (wait for the AMD offering, which should come in 2 weeks), an option which youself said isn't really an option.
Or get a cheap mid-range (which will fit fine in the system) and do a total upgrade when needed. Problem here of course is the double spending within a short time.
The third, and most fun option, is to repair your card. ONLY TRY THIS IF IT'S REALLY DEAD... There is a possibility that your card will come alive after shoving it in the oven for a few minutes. Read up on it on the internet, and I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR KILLING A ALREADY DEAD CARD... But it's a nice thing to try on a snowy sunday...
hope to see you soon, Kollwitz
